The main difference between dry cleaning and steam cleaning is that while dry cleaning relies on dry clean solutions to break down stains, steam cleaning works by injecting large quantities of hot water into the carpet. While dry cleaning only uses around 2 litres of water per room, steam cleaning uses 10 to 50 litres, much of which gets left in the carpet after extraction.
