The main difference between carpet dry cleaning and ‘steam’ cleaning, or hot water extraction, is the quantity of water used. The steam cleaning method involves spraying a cleaning product onto the carpet, injecting pressurised water into the carpet, and then extracting it again. Depending on the actual system, this method uses 10 to 50 litres of water per room.
