White Cotton and Linen Fabrics: Did you know that chairs and lounges upholstered with light-coloured natural fabrics are the most challenging to clean? This is because they can be prone to watermarks. To avoid this, these fabrics need to be dry cleaned for best results. Our technicians use Electrodry’s dry cleaning solution to break down oil and dirt in your sofa, without risking damaging watermarks. This process is performed by hand and is very effective, although it may not have quite the same results as the hot water extraction methods we can use on more robust fabrics.
Patterned cotton and Linen fabrics: These fabrics are generally more processed than white cottons and linens, and are less delicate. We still have to be wary of watermarks or dye migration when using a hot water extraction method. To reduce this risk, and reduce the amount of water needed, we first prepare the lounge. We begin by pre-treating your lounge with Electrodry’s dry cleaning solution, to release the grease and grime. Then, we apply a spray that stabilises the colours and prevents browning. Next, we clean your lounge using our Healthguard cleaning solution, getting rid of mould and bacteria. The last step is to flush the fabric with a hot water extraction clean, removing dirt, and leaving your lounge looking great.
Synthetic Fabrics: Synthetic fabrics like polypropylene and polyester are less prone to issues like dye migration. We first use a neutral cleaning pre-spray to remove a build-up of body oils and grease, and then a water emulsified dry cleaning solution to treat stubborn dirt and grime. A final hot water extraction rinses out the lounge and removes the dirt.
