In order to clean your upholstered fabric safely, it’s necessary to pick the right system for the lounge. Fabrics can vary greatly when it comes to colourfastness and durability, and at Electrodry we know how to make sure the method matches the material.
White Cotton and Linen Fabrics: These are the most delicate fabrics, as well as being susceptible to watermarking. To avoid damaging the fabric or leaving brown stains from the water, we don’t perform the hot water extraction on light coloured natural fabrics. Instead, we apply the dry cleaning solutions and then clean the upholstery by hand. Although still very effective, it can be harder to get perfect results with this method, but the alternative is damaging your delicate upholstery.
Patterned cotton and Linen fabrics: Coloured natural fabrics tend to be more durable than the white/light fabrics. This means we can do a hot water extraction clean, which is great news. But to avoid the risk of colours bleeding into one another, we first use a colour-stabilising pre-spray, as well as our standard dry clean solutions to loosen stains. Then, we rinse it all out with a hot water extraction clean.
Synthetic Fabrics: Synthetics are generally fairly durable and colour stable. We treat stains with dry cleaning solutions, sanitise using Healthguard, and finish with a hot water extraction clean.
